Program Information:
The Discovery Center Adult Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program is designed for persons who are physically and emotionally capable of functioning in their usual environment while participating in a treatment program.
This twenty week program is intensive and structured to provide clients with education about chemical dependency and related problems so they will begin to see their need for involvement in the program. It will also provide a means for clients to gain insight into themselves with regard to the destructive use of alcohol and/or other drugs and how this has created problems in their lives.
The core of the treatment program is group therapy. There will also be lectures, videos , reading and writing assignments, individual counseling sessions, and, when appropriate, family and employer conferences. Family members will be invited to attend the five-week Alcohol/Drug Education sessions at no additional charge.
Treatment plans will be individualized to meet the needs of each client.
Since A. A. involvement is a necessary part of recovery, each client will be expected to become involved in A. A. as part of their treatment.
In the first five weeks of treatment each client will be required to attend one A. A. meeting per week. The remaining fifteen weeks of treatment, he or she will be required to attend two meetings per week. Each client will be required to obtain a sponsor by the seventh week of treatment.
Continuing Care will constitute the last ten weeks of the Treatment Program. During this time, each client will focus on living a sober life, relapse warning signs, problem solving, and how to incorporate the Twelve Steps into his or her life.
